Swimwear brand Zoggs is seeking to show its support as over 3000 swimmers across the UK start to swim the length of the channel.
Zoggs, partner of the Aspire Channel Swim, is celebrating the launch of the challenge this week by encouraging staff at its HQ in Lightwater, Surrey, to take the plunge and raise funds for a charity dedicated to supporting people with spinal cord injury.
Aspire seeks to inspire thousands of people, each year, to swim the full distance of 22 miles over a period of 12 weeks (September to December 2011) in their local pool.
Now in its 13th year, the Swim has raised a massive £3 million for Aspire and, this year, with the support of Zoggs, it is hoped even more will be raised.
Speaking at the launch of the challenge this week with mascot Zoggy the Seal, Zoggs UK marketing manager David Annand said: “We are extremely proud to be partnering the Aspire Channel Swim in 2011 and encourage everyone – whatever age or ability – to take part in this great opportunity and raise much needed funds for those living with spinal injuries. Every member of staff at our Head Office has been inspired by the extraordinary team at Aspire to give this a go so we’re truly getting involved in this great challenge and urge others to do the same.”
