The Kendal Group, the holding company of Australian swimwear brand Zoggs Ltd, has announced the appointment of Alan Jacobs as its new chairman.
Jacobs will replacing Brian Smouha who is stepping down as chairman after eight years in the role. Smouha will continue his involvement in the business as a non-executive director and shareholder.
Jacobs is a former lawyer and corporate financier, who is best known for his role as long term adviser to Lord Kirkham, founder of DFS Furniture, He is currently a non-executive director of Austin Reed Holdings, Reiss and Blue Inc., as well as being Chairman of Redbus Media Group.
On his new role, Jacobs said: “Zoggs is a great business which punches well above its weight in its core UK and Australian performance swimwear markets. I am delighted to be joining the board at a key time in Zoggs’ development as the brand focuses on developing its international business. As Chairman I will work closely with the very experienced management team to drive the business forward through 2012 and beyond.”
