It is under one year since Zahia Dehar created her eponymous intimate apparel fashion house, and already the company’s creator and design director has unveiled her second couture collection on the fringe of Paris Couture Fashion Week.
At her first catwalk show, the world’s media could speak of little else than Dehar’s troubled childhood working as an underage prostitute.
This year, partly thanks to the informal sponsorship of Karl Lagerfeld for the young designer, the fashion press was taking a keener interest.
Zahia Dehar’s business has added a ready-to-wear lingerie collection to her handcrafted luxury couture lines.
The theatrical catwalk show had a playful theme based around childish elements like birthday cards and cupcakes. Models emerged to present several themed lines including a pastel pink Cake & Candy range, a vampire-inspired line called Love, and a suite of bridal lingerie for the more daring couple.
Away from the catwalk, a photo shoot for the collection features Dehar modelling her own pieces.
The company has established a Paris headquarters and is working on expanding into retail across France and the rest of Europe.
