Worker admits to stealing £227,000 from Leicestershire lingerie firm

A woman who stole £227,000 from a lingerie manufacturer in Market Harborough is expected to face a jail sentence.

Appearing at Leicester Crown Court on Monday, Deborah Gray pleaded guilty to theft from GJ Waller & Co, which produces ladies thermal and cotton underwear, between January 2007 and June 2015.

She also admitted false accounting between the same dates, reports the Leicester Mercury.

According to her barrister, James Bide-Thomas, Gray has underlying mental health difficulties and is under the care of a community psychiatric nurse.

Gray’s case was adjourned until July 28, pending the preparation of psychiatric reports, and she was granted bail.

But Recorder Justin Wigoder warned that when the case is dealt with, a lengthy custodial sentence was “almost inevitable”.
