Victoria’s Secret Angel Alessandra Ambrosio has announced her retirement from the runway after 17 years with the lingerie giant.
The Brazilian model, who first modelled for Victoria’s Secret in 2000, aged 19, walked her last catwalk for the brand in Shanghai on Monday night.
Ambrosio announced her intentions to hang up her wings just hours before the high-profile show, starring fellow Angels Bella Hadid, Adrianna Lima and Lily Alridge, got underway.
The model’s departure from the brand is reportedly due to her plans to spend more time with her children and her successful swimwear range, Ale by Alessandra.
Ambrosio celebrated her 17 years with the international lingerie brand with a party following the show on Monday night.
While the show marked the exit of one Angel, it also signalled the return of another. Fellow Victoria’s Secret model Candice Swanepoel, who got her wings in 2010, graced the stage in Shanghai after giving birth last year.
