‘Unprecedented’ turnout recorded at Cannes underwear and beachwear show

Banana Moon was handed a Creative Excellence award during the fair.

MarediModa, the international trade fair of European fabrics for beachwear, underwear and athleisure, has witnessed a 12% increase in visitor numbers to its November show this year.

More than 3,000 buyers from the UK, Europe and the US attended the exhibition, which was held at Palais Des Festivals in Cannes on November 7-9.

“We could have never expected such an amazing and categorical result, especially in view of the general outcomes of international textile trade fairs,” said Marco Borioli, president of the fair.

“First of all, such an unequivocal achievement is a reward for both the fair formula and the quality of exhibited collections as well as the various opportunities offered for in-depth examination, the events, the trends presentation and above all the warm and homely atmosphere experienced at the fair.”

During the event, MarediModa Creative Excellence Awards were handed to Californian swimwear brand Banana Moon and the Van de Velde group, which manufactures lingerie and swimwear for PrimaDonna, MarieJo and Andres Sarda.

These brands were recognised for their creativity, innovation and product quality.

MarediModa also celebrated emerging fashion designers from famous European schools during The Link beachwear and underwear awards.

Sara Voltarel from ISGMD Institute in Lecco, Italy won the award for beachwear and Mattia Rainò from the Secoli Institute in Milan won the award for underwear.

Amelia Stephenson from the London College of Fashion was a finalist in the underwear category.
