Underwear of Sweden has launched a new collection, called Swimmable Underwear, which can be worn to go swimming.
Swimmable Underwear is designed to get wet, as the padded swimmable bra is made from a special light-weight fabric which maintains its shape, support and opacity both in and out of the water.
Available in cup sizes A to E, it comes with interchangeable halter and shoulder straps, as well as a little draw-string purse to keep the second set of straps safe when not in use.
The fabric and underwire are both salt and chlorine resistant to ensure the bra will ‘neither rust nor perish’.
Inspiration for the range was reportedly drawn from designer Helene Pilhage’s first meeting with her in-laws at a big family picnic in Sweden, when they all spontaneously decided to go swimming in the lake.
Pilhage said: “I thought, why not wear underwear that is actually designed to be swimmable, beautiful and comfortable. I just wish I had decent underwear on that day.”
The colour and design of the 2012/13 Summer Collection is inspired by the late 1950s with a high waisted short, frill details and gelato hues.
Pilhage added: “Women’s liberation was gaining momentum in the late 1950s and therefore seemed a great fit for Swimmable Underwear, as this product is all about the freedom to do anything, anytime.”
