UKLA 2018 winner: Small Business of the Year (1-10 employees)

The winner of the Small Business of the Year 2018 is Playful Promises. 

Known for its quirky, directional lingerie designs, Playful Promises have gone from strength to strength this year, growing sales by over 100% and expanding its size range over three times since 2015.

Playful Promises was one of the first brands in the UK to offer open-cup bras in plus sizes, and has been applauded by the media for celebrating diversity.

In April 2017, the brand released its Ageless Fashion campaign, working with models in their late 60s to challenge society’s definition of beauty and sexuality.

Recognising a demand, the brand launched a US warehouse and website in late 2016, which has led to growth both via retail and wholesale. More recently, the brand teamed up with top US influencer/blogger Gabi Fresh for on a collaborative plus size lingerie collection, which has also been picked up by worldwide retailers.

Picking up this prestigious award, Anna Sampson said: “Thank you so much, it’s amazing that people recognise the work we have done.”
