UKLA 2018 winner: Lifetime Achievement Award

The UKLA Lifetime Achievement Award pays homage to an individual who has devoted their entire career to the intimate apparel sector and given outstanding service to the industry.

That can certainly be said of this year’s recipient, Sarah Tremellen, founder of Bravissimo, who has spent more than two decades in the industry.

Sarah’s career began in 1995 when, after failing to find pretty bras that worked for her, she decided to set up her own business, providing a range of lingerie, swimwear and clothing for women who are a D cup and above.

She started Bravissimo as a mail order company, operating out of her living room, and quickly turned it into a multi-channel retailer, which now has 28 shops across the UK, a thriving mail order and ecommerce operation and over 1 million customers.

Over the last 18 months, Sarah has led her company in opening new stores across the country and revamping existing ones with a new look and feel that puts customers at the heart of the business.

Bravissimo has also redesigned its website, creating a uniform experience across all channels, and launched a new ecommerce site in the US, with a view to expanding its bricks and mortar presence there in the future.

Commenting on the award win, Sarah said: “It’s such an honour, what a wonderful industry to be a part of, so thank you very much, I’m really appreciative.”
