The owner of The Little Big Bra Shop, an independent retailer based in Market Harborough, has spoken about how her UK Lingerie Award win has boosted staff morale after a fire forced the business to close last year.

The lingerie store was crowned the joint winner of the Independent Retail Business of the Year (South) last month, along with luxury London-based boutique Coco de Mer.

Karen Forbes, owner of The Little Big Bra Shop, said the win came after fire and flood damage to the back office and storage room forced the store to close for three weeks in the summer.

“Morale was low, so this was a huge pick-me-up for both myself and the staff. It got us excited about getting back to doing what we love,” she explained.

“Also, many customers saw the news on social media or heard about it on the local radio, so it gave the business credibility.”

The UKLA Award win was picked up by Harborough FM in January, which resulted in Forbes being interviewed live on air.

“I posted the link about the win from Lingerie Insight onto The Little Big Bra Shop Facebook page and the local radio presenter saw it and contacted me the same evening,” said Forbes.
