Triumph UK will close down its distribution centre in Swindon, resulting in a loss of 70 jobs.
The lingerie firm has announced that it will shift its distribution services from its logistics partner Menlo to its distribution centre in Obernai, France this June.
The decision comes as Triumph looks to streamline its corporate DC activities in line with the company’s global objectives regarding cost and efficiency.
Commenting on the move, Sheila Hamilton, managing director for Triumph UK and Ireland said: "Triumph UK is committed to its business in the UK as well as continuous product innovation, and intends to maintain its market leadership through our superior product portfolio, world-class marketing and excellent customer service. We very much value the relationship with our wholesale partners, and this will in no way disrupt our service to our wholesale or retail channels."
A worker at the Swindon warehouse, based in the Groundwell Industrial Estate, told the Swindon Advertiser yesterday: “Our HR department phoned me this afternoon to say Triumph International will be leaving Swindon from June 9.”
“This came completely out of the blue. We were summoned to the Blunsdon House Hotel where they received the information,” the worker added.
But Triumph remained cagey when asked about job cuts. A spokesperson said in a statement: “In regards to discussions surrounding any personnel changes within the business, these are still ongoing and Triumph would not want to comment at this present time until these are finalised.”
