Topman has unveiled a new range of limited edition art trunks today featuring a series of bizarre images.
Starting from just £50, the trunks depict a ‘space beach’ landscape, bicycle wheels and even mannequins with shark heads.
Created by the likes of Todd Selby from TheSelby.com and London illustrator and set designer Gary Car, the products are currently gracing Topman’s Oxford Street window.
They were designed as part of The Swimwear Project, the latest in a series of projects whereby Topman has invited selected designers to recreate a particular staple from a Man’s wardrobe.
As part of the task, Bernhard Willhelm, Jonathan Saunders, Cassette Playa, Gary Card and Todd Selby were all asked to design their perfect pair of swim shorts.
Topman design director Gordon Richardson said: "The Swim Project is where Topman turns up the print volume. Designers well known for their visual stance have produced a diverse range of graphics and illustrations ranging from photo real images… to hand drawn sketches, in a collection that goes from poolside to beach in great style."
New York photographer and blogger Todd Selby was the final designer invited to take part in the process. The Selby founder has demonstrated his love of cats by designing a three quarter length short complete with hand drawn kittens adorning the whole short.
Gary Card is a set designer who has worked in the past with the likes of Vogue, Lady Gaga and Stella McCartney. His ‘playful’ design features prints of his favourite toys and a purple waistband.
The trunks will be available from Topman’s flagship London and New York stores, and online at topman.com.
