Surrey Police have launched an investigation after thieves broke into an independent lingerie store and escaped with stock from the premises.
The robbers stole a “large quantity” of underwear after smashing the window of Tender Trap in Oxted, just off the M25, at around 11.40pm on Monday night. The retail value of the stolen goods was not disclosed.
The suspects, whose faces were covered, are believed to have used a baseball bat to break the glass, before grabbing a selection of underwear and making off in a white saloon car.
PC Richard Hemingway, who is investigating the incident, said police are currently in the process of establishing exactly what was taken in the raid.
“This is a speciality store selling designer items and we are working with the shop owners to identify exactly what has been stolen. We are also carrying out a number of other enquiries, particularly in relation to the vehicle which was seen leaving the scene.”
He also appealed to anybody who was in the area at the time, or who has any other information, to come forward as soon as possible.
Tender Trap has been trading for more than 20 years and has attracted celebrities such as Davina McCall and June Brown to its store in the past. It sells lingerie, swimwear, shapewear and nightwear, and positions itself as a specialist bra fitter for local customers.
