The March Textile Forum, held this month at The Music Room, London, was reported to be a ‘resounding success.’
Attendees to the show included representatives from Reiss, John Lewis, Louis Vuitton, Bally, Asos, Fred Perry and Jenny Packham.
Organisers stated that buyers were placing orders as well as sampling, ‘proving there is still vitality in the industry despite the economic climate’.
They added that with the luxury side of the industry holding its own, they were unsurprised to see buyers interested in fabric at over £300 a metre, as well as less expensive options.
Quotes from the day:
Basinghall UK’ Chris Day: “I was very pleased with the visitor numbers; I was constantly busy.”
Fred and Ginger creative director Victoria Holt: “I enjoyed the show, there was a lot on offer – it was definitely worth having a look.” More used to agents coming to her, Victoria was delighted to see so many companies under one roof that she had not come across before.”
Jasper Conran operations coordinator Karen Nourse: “The exhibition enabled me to introduce myself to existing contacts and also make new connections,” she said
The next Textile Forum will be held on 19-20 October 2011 at The Music Room, South Molton Lane, London.
