Swimwear designer to the stars considers £50m sale

Orlebar Brown, the luxury swimwear brand made famous by James Bond, is preparing for a £50 million sale.

The company was launched in 2007 by photographer Adam Brown, who wanted to make a tailored range of men’s beach shorts inspired by 1960’s swimwear.

It received a significant boost in 2012 when Daniel Craig wore a pair of its blue shorts in his role as James Bond in Skyfall and has since attracted a wave of celebrity fans, including model David Gandy and rapper Jay-Z.

Orlebar Brown is expected to generate revenues of £23m this year on the back of strong online and UK sales.

But the firm is now looking to win over private investors as it plans a £50m sale, and is said to have hired Cavendish Corporate Finance to explore future funding options, reports the Telegraph.
