Students win Playful Promises design competition

Three fashion students will see their lingerie designs go into production after winning a design competition launched by Playful Promises.

First-year Fashion Contour students from the London College of Fashion, Louise Strudwick and Sophie Beet, and second-year Contour Fashion student from De Montfort University, Charlotte Holkham, will have their work brought to life in SS16.

Playful Promises opened up the competition to all design students and recent graduates, who were briefed to create designs that reflected its target customer, contrasting delicate details like embroidery and florals with bondage-style fabrics and restraints.

The brand whittled down hundreds of entries to nine shortlisted designs and the winners were chosen by its Facebook followers.

Commenting on the win, Sophie Beet said: “I was so shocked to just be short listed. That was amazing for me, but to actually win! I’m so excited for November when my design will go on sale. I feel very proud that my idea will go on sale to the public, something which I never even thought would ever happen, especially only being nineteen.”
