Spanx founder Sara Blakely has joined the Forbes 2012 list of billionaires.
Blakely is one of just 104 women out of a total 1,226 people on the list. She is also the youngest woman to join the list, this year, who has not been assisted by a husband or inheritance.
Spanx was founded by Blakely 12 years ago with an original investment of $5000, which at the time constituted the entrepeneur’s entire savings.
The business reportedly turned a profit from the start, making $4 million in its first year and $10 million the next.
Blakely is now looking to grow her brand abroad and hopes to double international sales, currently making up 15 percent of the total, to 30 percent within three years.
Blakely told Forbes magazine: “I have to pinch myself… Five grand… Good investment.”
