The eleventh edition of MarediModa, a worldwide trade fair addressed to European beachwear and underwear fabrics, saw a five percent increase in attendance compared to the 2011 edition.
Multiple buyers were invited to Cannes in collaboration with the Institute for Foreign Trade (ICE), SMI (Sistema Moda Italia) and the Ministry of Economic Development to view the collections of over 100 exhibitors from Europe, the US and South America..
Fair president Claudio Taiana said: “Considering the number and the quality level of pre-registered buyers, expectations were positive on the eve of the fair… However, the rather negative general climate suggested us to be prudent while fearing that many of them could have given up the trip to the French Riviera.
“The closing data, instead, has suggested a reawakening of interest and liveliness that we had not seen for years. Undeniably, bringing the fair forward by two-weeks upon our clients’ explicit request, has turned out to be a winning choice”.
The scheduled events, which included a forum on creativity, featured participants such as Rosa Chá and Amir Slama designer and founder Amir Slama, Emano creative director Emanuela Corvo and Kristina Ti designer Cristina Tardito.
David Shah, the new MarediModa trendforecaster both presented a focus on 2014 trends, as well as a work on ‘nostalgia.’
After the closing of the event in Cannes, MarediModa is now looking to its upcoming Colombia show, taking place from November 21st.
