• PARTY

Mode City will also be hosting a massive White & Gold Garden Party party, this coming July, for exhibitors, visitors and members of the press.

Around 1000 guests will be invited to the event, which will take place at the Hôtel Salomon de Rothschild in the 8th arrondissement.

Dress code: White and gold are mandatory.

• CONFERENCES

A series of conferences will interpret consumers’ desires and predict market evolutions.

The Share Forum: Designers get involved to help visitors understand the different Forum propositions. The Trends Forum is a prospecting tool offering developments in packaging, merchandising and products. Osmoz by Firmenich will explain innovative uses of perfume for the Beachwear and Lingerie markets. Sunday 8 July at 10:45am.

Beachwear: what do boutiques think? "Intima" magazine, along with other publications in the Network Dessous Group, shares new survey results from France, Italy, Germany, the United Kingdom and Spain, where more than 250 points of sale were interviewed in order to analyze the evolution of this market segment. Sunday 8 July at 1pm.

Made In Italy: Is it a plus value for the swimwear market? Does the Made in Italy still mean a plus value in the buying process of lingerie and swimwear? Or shall we already talk about Made in Europe? By the magazine “Intimo Piu Mare” magazine. Sunday 8 July at 2pm

Mode City’s Swimwear Report: The international swimwear and lingerie trade show presents a global study on the swimwear market so you can better understand and anticipate its changes. The study was carried out by the NPD Group. It includes a summary of consumotion figures, major events and prospects for five European countries: France, Ital, Germany, the United Kingdom and Spain. Monday 9am – 2pm

Secrets of seaside boutiques: Retailers who specialize in beachwear share their tips and tricks to attract customers. A conference by ‘Création Lingerie’. Monday 9pm – 2pm

• A NEW VISION AT MODE CITY

As part of its ongoing mission to encourage creativity, this year Mode City collaborates with the ARTAQ Association (whose goal is to bring attention to the most representative talents from the Street Art and Urban Arts movements) and gives carte blanche to the young French artist YZ ("eyes"). Acclaimed by the media, YZ also received an ARTAQ Award in 2012 for her wall painting works using Indian ink.

In a pop-up atelier with a Baroque salon ambiance in the Young Designers universe, YZ will create a 1900s-inspired female nude using a variety of mediums – paint, collage and gold lace. The black and white artwork will be part of the portrait series she is currently creating in the streets of Paris and other European capitals.

• DESIGNER FASHION SHOW

Three choreographed fashion shows will happen every day for three days. Showcasing the brands’ SS13 collections, they will take place under a tent that can hold up to 700 spectators.

The third fashion show, ‘The Selection,’ will be anew addition for July. This unique concept showcases ‘the’ selection made by Mode City’s Fashion Team, and the key lingerie, swimwear, beachwear and wellbeing pieces will stroll the catwalk for 30 minutes of intense inspiration.

For this year’s lingerie and beachwear fashion shows, MODE CITY also invites you on a sensual experience based on the richness of sharing. Energy and optimism are the foundations of this trend, and a continually growing transversality between lingerie and beachwear means two themes, ‘The Skills of Hands’ and ‘The Circus of Fashion’, will be explored in each fashion show. The lingerie and beachwear fashion shows will respectively present two other themes, ‘Nursing of Plants’ and ‘Sampling Cultures.’

‘Share’ is a unique translation of the lingerie and beachwear trends with four main themes to stimulate four senses!

Smell… ‘The Sampling Culture’ with Firmenich’s Osmoz workshop

With help from a perfumer, take off and discover collections inspired by cultures and ethnicities from around the world, with colours, shapes and prints as profound expressions of the beauty of human creations.
Osmoz.com, the new Firmenich internet site dedicated to perfumes, takes us through the world of olfactory creation. And "The Sampling Culture" takes us on a trip to bewitch our senses with a world of fragrance that’s rich in flavour and colour and where tie-dye prints excite the body. In a demonstration using a wide range of enveloping and reassuring scents, MODE CITY offers a sales tool ‒ a different human and sensual approach in tune with the beachwear and lingerie markets.

Touch … The Skills of Hands with Camille Dupuis’ workshop

In the textile designer’s workshop savoir faire and tradition pay homage to the "nude" trend and the fresh feeling of different shades of white, beige and pink produce calming, contemporary fashion.

Textile designer Camille Dupuis explores all kinds of materials ‒ renewable materials that are pliable and can be knitted, recycled, used together or felted. Her textiles use and integrate lace and vintage table clothes in their fibres. Whether cocoons, textile fossils, armour, archaeological treasures or botanical jokes, her creations parody nature as daily objects. Her work and research produce soft, cosy objects that are both strange and familiar. She explores manual techniques, adding in poetry and modernity, to show all the possibilities of handmade processes in refined haute couture lingerie.

Taste … The Circus of Fashion with Marie Dallard’s workshop

In this temple of creation, black mixes with pastels, white and gold, a pastry designer renders daily life magnificent and theatrical women are at their passionate best!

In her ephemeral pastry atelier, Marie Dallard takes the circus theme and makes it sublime. Shapes are exaggerated and daily life expands to make way for fantasy and extravagance with a preference for dramatic lingerie and swimsuits with peplums as eveningwear. All the voluptuousness of these two sectors is accentuated here with Marie’s delicious creations and sugar sculptures, like irresistible fashion accessories.

See … ‘The Nursing of Plants’ with Arôm
Seen through a floral designer’s prism, plant-inspired prints saturated with sophisticated colours tell their secrets. An important trend this season; these prints bring energy and optimism to the collections and help create silhouettes that are both seductive and carefree.

Winner of the Elegance 2011 Talent Competition, the Arôm team invents a nonchalant savoir faire where installations and compositions seem natural but are the product of enormous sophistication. Similar to lingerie making techniques, Arôm creates perfectly shaped arrangements to bring out the best in spaces. Freshness and a floral palette take over the forum and artistry partners with marketing for novel, charming product displays. Arôm’s creations harmonize with fashion’s seductive colour palettes for a heady floral mood.

• THE FRENCH LINGERIE EXHIBITION
In honour of MODE CITY French lingerie goes on show at the Espace Pierre Cardin in Paris, 5 – 26 July 2012. The retrospective will cover more than 100 years of creation, innovation, expertise, luxury and … seduction!

• THE ‘PARIS MODE PARCOURS’
Mode City invites you to discover the Parisians’ Paris. In partnership with Do It In Paris and Show Me Paris, Mode City takes you to the latest must see places in the fashion capital with walking tours rich in history and anecdotes.
