Shahnaz Bodywear launches for SS12

Shahnaz Bodywear will be launching its first collection for SS12.

A 2002 graduate from De Montfort University’s Contour Fashion course, Shahnaz has worked for companies including Charnos, Ballet, George at Asda, Topshop and Emporiana.

Her final collection was sponsored by Warner’s and embroidery makers Rau & Co Switzerland, and her work was showcased at London Graduate Fashion week.

In 2008, she completed a Postgraduate degree in Fashion Bodywear. Upon graduation she was offered to freelance at Curvy Kate where, as a designer, she helped move the brand forward by giving them inspiration for colours and trends.

Shahnaz Bodywear is a British luxury label; all the lingerie and bodywear pieces have an ‘enlightened English air’ to them.

Shahnaz’s signature pieces are handmade with the use of silks. The collection features hand dyed techniques for a characteristic effect and carefully placed embellishments.

The inspiration comes from Shahnaz’s infatuation with her own skin and her personal complexities, which she expresses throughout her work. She likes to work in a theoretical way and strives to incorporate femininity and the masculinity into her work.

Prints will play an important part in the collection, with ‘simple but effective’ designs to enhance the structure of the garment. All of the designs can be worn either as underwear or as outerwear.

The debut collection will be launched in Spring/Summer 2012.
