An unfortunate seal pup was almost strangled to death after it became entangled in a g-string.
The skimpy underwear was left in an amorous spot, know as Lover’s Leap, on New Zealand’s South Island.
An on-looker witnessed the plight of the hapless pup and called for assistance from the Department of Conservation.
The team hiked for an hour up a 130 metre cliff to reach the animal and spent a further hour in the dark attempting to free it.
They were shocked to discover that the pup was lassoed around its neck with a pair of scanty red knickers.
It was conjectured that they might have belonged to a pair of lovers on a romantic walk who, after becoming engaged in amorous activities, were forced to make a quick escape.
