Despite the snow, the Salon International de la Lingerie show opened its doors on Saturday, for its highly anticipated 50th edition show.
The AW13/14 trade show’s theme of ‘Ice Land’ was suitably fitting, as the weekend saw hundreds of buyers, designers and press escape from the bitingly cold Parisian weather and find a retreat in the (well-heated) surrounds of the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles.
Over the weekend, there was worry that the adverse conditions would affect the show, with some buyers unable to attend due to transport problems, as well as reports that some collections did not arrive on time, resulting in empty stands. However, the attitude by many in attendance was very much one of "where there’s a will there’s a way," with Saturday proving to be a standout day for a number of labels.
Stephanie Chan, from lingerie brand Scandale said: "Last year Saturday was relatively quiet for us, but this year, it has been really busy. We have had some great meetings and a lot of interest from new buyers, which is really exciting."
"I think a lot of people have been attracted to our booth this year at Salon, because our new ‘Encore’ collection has been featured in the Lingerie Fashion Show, which has been great for visibility," she said.
Similarly, Audrey Cruz, PR Director of Maison Close, was pleased with the response from this edition of the trade show. "We have had interest from a lot of key buyers and high level press this season. It really helped that we featured in the introduction to the fashion show which takes place every day, which leads people to the brand as well as getting the press excited," she said.
Salon International de la Lingerie will close today, with the final Selection Fashion Show taking place at 16.30.
