Romance is alive in the UK

The results of a recent survey conducted by Interflora shows that romance is well and truly alive in the UK, with men and women are more or less on the same page when it comes to their plans for this year.

When it comes to lingerie, both genders are in perfect agreement, with nine percent of men buying sexy underwear and nine percent nine percent of women hoping to receive the gift.

The degree of love shown does, however, vary by location. This year, those living in Scotland are in for a great Valentine’s Day – almost 69 percent say they are planning to celebrate the most romantic day of the year. However, things aren’t looking so rosy for those living in Northern Ireland, where only 46 percent of respondents are planning to surprise a loved one.

In London, 62 percent are gearing up for February 14th, as are 61 percent of those in the North West, the West Midlands and the South East, and 60 percent in the East Midlands.

The average spend for Valentine’s gifts this year will be between £36 and £50, with 42 percent of respondents spending between these amounts.

Seven percent will be spending between £51 and £100, with only one percent pushing the boat out and spending at least £100.

Interflora surveyed 2,634 adults living in the UK during January 2011.
