Rigby & Peller launches first European store

Premium lingerie retailer Rigby & Peller has entered into the European market with its first store outside of the UK, launched in Düsseldorf on March 1, 2012.

The move is reportedly the first of many expansion plans for the brand. The foray into Europe follows Van de Velde’s purchase of a majority stake in the luxury retailer in August, 2011.

Van de Velde, which already has an international presence, is taking Rigby & Peller into the buoyant €2.5 billion German lingerie market.

Amongst its existing European retail network, Van de Velde has eight Oreia stores which over time will also take on the Rigby & Peller name, starting with a second store in Germany, Berlin, before the end of 2012 and an opening in Barcelona in May, 2012.

Rigby & Peller retail director Sharon Teasdale said: “This is an exciting move which takes us into a thriving and cosmopolitan market outside of the UK for the very first time in Rigby & Peller’s 70 year history. Not only is it great to be able to grow and expand the brand in this way, but we are delighted to be able to offer women across the rest of Europe the opportunity to benefit from the unmistakable Rigby & Peller fitting experience.

She added: “Our lingerie stylists are committed to helping women acheive perfectly fitting underwear for great posture, comfort and well being . It is great to be able to bring something different to the German lingerie market in addition to high fashion, premium quality products.”

Rigby & Peller Lingerie Stylists London opened its doors in Düsseldorf on Thursday 1st March 2012 and is located at Blumenstraße 24, 40212 Düsseldorf.
