Frustrated by the lack of skin-tone choices to go with her ever-expanding wardrobe, Nubian Skin founder, Ade Hassan, decided it was time for ‘a different kind of nude’.
Inspired by trail blazing women, Eunice W. Johnson and super model Iman, who created Fashion Fair and Iman cosmetics, Hassan launched Nubian Skin in October 2014 with a carefully edited collection of lingerie and hosiery to provide the essential underwear needs of women of colour.
Headquartered in London, Nubian Skin is now stocked in a number of leading retailers, including House of Fraser, Fenwick Bond Street and ASOS, and has supplied the wardrobes of major productions in the West End and Broadway.
The brand was also selected to provide the underpinnings for the Beyonce Formation Tour.
In August 2016, Nubian Skin announced the arrival of its brand new venture, The Africa Collection, a series of luxury lingerie and sleepwear lines inspired by and made in Africa.
The first range in the Africa collection is Moroccan Nights, a limited edition range inspired by the midnight sky and shadows of a balmy Moroccan night.
More recently, Nubian Skin collaborated with d.bleu.dazzled, an American brand renowned for its crystallized undergarments, for a presentation at London Fashion Week.
The pair joined forces to deliver a range of lingerie for all. From deeper complexions to super-pale skin, the range offers up an inclusive selection of nude bras, bottoms and hosiery.
