Amanda Partridge has worked as a buyer in the independent retail sector since January 2000, starting her career as a buyers assistant for nightwear at Associated Independent Stores (AIS) before moving up the career ladder as assistant buyer for childrenswear, womenswear and accessory buyer and finally, womenswear, accessory and intimate apparel buyer in 2012.
Her role at AIS, a non-profit organisation, is to help support independent retailers ranging from single high street shops to flagship department stores and specialist retailers operating over 600 outlets across the UK, Ireland and Channel Islands.
She is also the chief organiser of AIS trade show INDX Intimate Apparel in Solihull, the only exhibition of its kind in the UK, designed exclusively for independent retailers.
In August 2017, the show unveiled an extended and expanded show format which received rave reviews from visitors and exhibitors alike.
Showcasing ranges from over 175 brands, adding a Sunday opening and welcoming over 500 buyers, INDX united the intimate apparel industry, with many brands coming together under one roof for the first time in 10 years.
“We are delighted with the response the August show received. We were supported by a record number of buyers and brands, we welcomed a large number of first–time visitors and we have been overwhelmed with positive comments and feedback,” Amanda said.
The relaunch followed the unprecedented demand for exhibition space at Cranmore Park following Moda’s announcement in March 2017 that it will not include lingerie and swimwear in its line-up at NEC Birmingham.
