The history of Lise Charmel dates back to the 1950s, but it wasn’t until 20 years later that the French lingerie group began to make its mark on the industry thanks to Jacques Daumal, who took ownership of the business in 1975.
Jacques revitalised the brand in line with fashion trends and with a constant concern for innovation.
He is responsible for building Lise Charmel’s international reputation for creating luxury designs in satin, silk, guipure embroideries and Calais lace from the brand’s home in Lyon, the silk capital of the world.
Inspired by fine art, Lise Charmel has developed creations in corsetry, lingerie, swimwear, with a strong identity and a constant renewal.
Today, Lise Charmel positions itself as a group comprised of five brand names: Lise Charmel, now the best-selling luxury lingerie brand in France; Eprise, which specialises in fuller cups, Antinea, which offers classic feminine styles; and Antigel, a younger fashion label.
It has also expanded into retail, opening its first own-brand store in Paris in December 2015. The store is located close to Le Bon Marché department store in the 6th district of Paris.
It consists of a 200m2 selling space over two floors and a showroom on the third floor.
On January 21, 2016, Jacques walked the catwalk with pride during the finale of his fashion show (pictured below), which took place as part of Paris Fashion Week.
And later that year, Lise Charmel received the prestigious MarediModa Creative Excellence Award at the 15th edition of the MarediModa trade show in Cannes.
While France is Lise Charmel’s biggest market, it also sells into the UK, the United States, Canada and Europe.
