Under Dawn Barber’s leadership, UK Tights, an online hosiery retailer, is on course to turnover £2 million in sales following the acquisition of its two major competitors.
The company finalised the deal to purchase My Tights.com and My Tights.co.uk in April after beating 10 other interested parties in a bidding war for the domain name.
Following the acquisition, UK Tights reinvested its earnings back into the company and is currently in the throes of doubling the size of its business premises to 8,000ft2.
UK Tights has also taken on four new employees and installed new software to help with customer service response times and moved its payment processing provider to PayPal for all payments, speeding up the checkout process.
Furthermore, the retailer has created a fully responsive e-mailed newsletter, which works on all devices and keeps our customers informed twice weekly on special offers and new products.
Barber is also the managing director of UK Lingerie and Swimwear, and this year, she’ll green light the launch of UK Activewear after spotting a demand for stylish gym gear that can be worn as everyday attire.
Sportswear sales in the UK are set to surpass £6bn this year as ‘athleisure’ – the trend of wearing gym clothes as everyday attire – drives up demand.
And this trend shows no signs of abating. According to business intelligence company Key Note, sales related to athleisure, including sports bras, leggings and yoga tops, will grow by about 24% over the next five years.
