PrimaDonna’s roots go way back to 1865. For 152 years, the brand’s goal has been to design perfect-fitting lingerie for fuller-bust customers.
And since her family’s business, Van de Velde, bought the brand in 1990, Liesbeth has played an important role in staying true to that brand ethos.
Her passion is to create elegant and comfortable lingerie for women of all ages and sizes.
Younger fuller-bust brands have since launched on the market, but PrimaDonna remains one of the best-selling labels in Europe.
Speaking to Lingerie Insight in March 2016, Liesbeth said: “We love the fact that new and young brands are entering the market. They challenge us to keep innovating. We will, however, stay true to who we are – offering the best support, comfort and quality for women with a fuller cup. We will always challenge ourselves to find the best technical solutions to combine innovative designs with the perfect fit.”
In 2010, Van de Velde launched young sister brand PrimaDonna Twist. This lingerie collection puts more emphasis on foam cups, young styles and prints. It is a success story with a growing fan base.
The launch of the first PrimaDonna swimwear collection in 2014 was the icing on the cake for women who take a large cup. In the first month after the launch, the collection collated over 7,000 orders from UK retailers alone.
