Fleur Turner is the founder and designer behind international luxury lingerie and resortwear brand Fleur of England.
She initially established the label as a concept at Northumbria University and now has a successful business that has been growing year-on-year since its official launch in 2001.
In that time, the company has transformed itself into an international brand with over 70 global stockists and a rapidly expanding ecommerce business, which relaunched with a men’s shopping guide and Instagram shop in September last year.
Over the years, Fleur of England has gained international press acclaim and a strong celebrity following, with Anne Hathaway wearing the label’s boudoir bra on the cover of Elle in 2014. Helen Mirren has also raved about the Bristol-based brand. “It fits! And as you know that is a primary requirement of underwear, but it is also very gorgeous. And British!” she was quoted as saying.
In 2014, Turner was awarded the Venus International Business Woman of the Year Award for the South West of England and a year later she received the National Venus International Business Woman of the Year Award. She was one of 22 winners to be selected out of more than 13,000 nominations.
Turner is the sole owner of the business and has grown the brand without any capital investment (or debt).
“Growth has been driven by remaining true to our original vision ‘to create a world of everlasting love and romance’ and from our continued focus on leading edge design, product quality and customer service,” she said.
“Our design and product remains so strong due to the fact that we personally design all of ranges and perform all pattern and technical work ourselves – this is not outsourced and each season we continue to re-work our patterns to make sure that the fit remains exemplary with the new luxury materials that we have sourced.”
