Charlotte Davies joined fuller-bust lingerie and swimwear brand Curvy Kate in 2011 as design and production assistant, but within two years she was promoted to the role of senior lingerie and swimwear designer.
Davies prides herself on listening to customer feedback and technically assessing each individual range.
Evidence of this is shown through a new revamped pattern, which has been developed with ‘upfront technology’. This innovation has been praised by retailers for providing a rounded, forward-projecting shape.
Further developments include the brand’s first strapless bra, which has doubled its predicted sales target – Bravissimo naming this bra its number one bestseller in June 2016.
Under Davies’ management, Curvy Kate has also produced Ellace, which provides lift and shape up to a K cup, and the Daily Dream balcony bra, an everyday T-shirt bra with foam line cups.
Prints are designed by Charlotte in-house offering unique styling, with highly saturated eye-catching hues and contrasting trims influenced by current trends.
But while Curvy Kate was launched as a fashion-led brand, Davies has developed 10 continuity ranges that suit the needs of lingerie boutiques and department stores.
Davies also spearheaded the brand’s first boudoir range for AW15. With minimal choice for women requiring sexy pieces in DD plus sizes, she came up with the concept for Scantilly – a fearless collection of lingerie for the curvaceous female.
This range is now stocked at major online and high street retailers including Figleaves, ASOS, Simply Be and Debenhams.
Davies was voted Designer of the Year in the 2016 UK Lingerie Awards.
