Nubian Skin signs first online retailer in US

Nubian Skin, a British brand that creates lingerie and hosiery for women of different skin tones, has launched into the United States with a deal to sell on Nordstrom.com.

The brand, which launched just 10 months ago, is already listed in the UK with Asos.com and at Fenwick department stores.

Nubian Skin was founded by Ade Hassan after becoming frustrated by the lack of skin tone options to go with her ever-expanding wardrobe. The brand aims to encourage women of all ethnicities to feel included, appreciated and most of all sexy, in lingerie especially tailored for them, the company says.

“Every woman wants to be able to wear the latest trends with confidence, and you’ll probably agree that a nude bra and skin tone hosiery are just the basics of every woman’s wardrobe. So far the response has been incredible – going from 50 to 20,000 followers in the first four weeks after Kerry Washington tweeted about the brand. We’ve also received support from Beverly Knight, Thandie Newton and Sinitta,” says Nubian Skin marketing executive Amy Lodder.

Nubian Skin provides a skin-tone guide on its website to help women find their hue by matching it to popular makeup brands that carry products for women of colour such as MAC and Iman Cosmetics.

The collection includes, The Essential T-Shirt Bra, The Strapless, Convertible Bra, and The Classic Lace Push Up Bra with matching lace panties and seamless briefs, thongs and boy shorts across Nubian Skin’s four signature colours: Berry, Cinnamon, Caramel and Café au Lait.

Retail prices range from £29 for the t-shirt bra to £39 for the lace push up bra.
