The duo behind a Newcastle lingerie start-up are promising a “new era” in luxurious lingerie, swimwear and kaftans after unveiling their debut collection following the launch of the business.
Black Velvet, run by Alessandra Bersan and Margaux Wild, who have extensive fashion experience, is a new lingerie and swimwear brand aiming to bring a dash of glamour to the UK high street and soon to be launching online.
The business has been a year in the making, with the pair admitting it has been 12 months of “meticulous planning” to get it to the stage where their offering is commercially ready for launch.
Black Velvet’s ‘After Dark’ collection contains pieces adorned with gems and embroidery on hand-picked fabrics, and was recently showcased at a special catwalk event in the North East to mark its launch.
The two founders, who between them have worked for household names such as Dolce & Gabbana and Diesel, say their aim was to create a collection that “oozes opulence through each seam”, and make luxury more affordable to consumers.
They hope to work with wholesalers and hit stores and boutiques over the coming months as they seek to grow the brand nationwide.
