Independent department store chain Morleys will open a 40,000ft2 store in South East London this week, creating 100 new jobs.

The London group, which stocks lingerie and nightwear brands including Triumph, Cyberjammies, Freya, Fantasie and Lepel, said the new store will open at Broadway Shopping Centre, Bexleyheath on Thursday, replacing the former BHS site.

Following a £3m investment from Morleys, the retail space has undergone significant renovation, complete with a new store entrance and interiors and hundreds of new brands.

The store’s lingerie department will offer a discreet, complimentary bra fitting service for all customers.

The grand opening will mark Morley’s ninth store to launch in London. The group also owns Camp Hopson of Newbury, an independent retail store operating in Berkshire for 96 years.

Bernard Dreesmann, executive chairman of Morleys, said: “The group has significantly grown in recent years in terms of sales and investment, adding new and exciting shopping experiences to areas across the South East. The Bexleyheath store will undoubtedly continue this success and provide a first class retail offer to the area, with a fantastic brand mix and unbeatable customer service.

“In addition to welcoming 100 new jobs to the area, the store has undergone an extensive transformation and we look forward to unveiling its impressive makeover to customers this month, for what is sure to be a busy opening weekend and Bank Holiday period.”
