N Brown like-for-like revenue rises by 2%

N Brown Group plc, parent company for online lingerie retailer Figleaves, Simply Be, High & Mighty and Jacomo, has announced a like-for-like revenue increase of two percent for the 19 weeks ending on January 7, 2012.

Total group revenue, including turnover from new stores, increased by 2.3 percent over the period

Trading was reportedly flat in October and November, but picked up in December, while online sales were up by nine percent and are now close to the symbolic 50 percent share of total sales.

According to the company, the two Simply Be concept stores have been well received and have attracted predominantly new customers, thereby expanding the brand’s reach in plus size fashion.

N Brown has committed to further developing the business in 2012 with the launch of five more Simply Be stores.

In the company statement, N Brown warned that the upcoming year would not be easy.

It said: “We do not expect life to be easy for our customers, but the expected reduction in the rate of inflation, especially for clothing and footwear, should help to prevent the financial pressure on them rising further.”

For 2012, N Brown will continue to drive for growth in its core UK home shopping business, particularly through the online channel, as well as focusing on strategic opportunities in multi-channel stores and international markets.
