The UK Fashion & Textile Association (UKFT) has announced that the NatWest UK Fashion & Textile Awards 2013 will be presented by HRH The Princess Royal, President of UKFT, and hosted by designer, musician and presenter Myleene Klass on May 23, at One Mayfair in London.
The Awards recognise excellence in creativity, design and innovation, in addition to commercial success. The shortlist for the awards has already been selected by the judges, and includes iconic British brand Ted Baker, designers Christopher Raeburn and Tatty Devine, and textile heritage brand Harris Tweed Hebrides. Awards categories include the Hotel Indigo UKFT Rise Award for the Most Exciting New Talent in the Industry and the Let’s Make it Here UK Manufacturer of the Year Award.
In addition to her role as President of UKFT, HRH is Patron of Save the Children. The chosen charity partner of the NatWest UK Fashion & Textile Awards 2013, Save the Children will benefit from a silent auction conducted on the night of the awards ceremony. Fashion Scout, organisers of Fashion Scout London and Paris, and of Graduate Fashion Week, will also produce a catwalk show featuring the work of the event’s finalists and winners.
UKFT Chief Executive John Miln said: “We are really excited about these Awards and grateful to our generous sponsors for making this spectacular event possible. The Awards show the world that the UK has a vibrant fashion and textile industry and that UKFT is at the heart of it. UKFT works closely with many of the winners and it is great to see their hard work rewarded in this way”.
