Mode City and Interfilière became playgrounds for innovative and creative activewear and high-performance fabric designs over the weekend.

The trade shows, which were held in Lyon on July 9-11, took inspiration from the growing athleisure trend and sporting events like UEFA Euro 2016 and the Rio Olympic Games to create a space dedicated to fitness and wellbeing.

This session, Mode City opened a new section called Sportiv’, a concept store featuring a cutting-edge selection of brands, including Lorna Jane and Supreme Body, who showcased a selection of sophisticated activewear.

The selection included bra tops, leggings, compression apparel and accessories like water bottles and smart watches.

Sportiv’ also offered a programme of talks from a number of industry experts.

Twenty-minute conferences focused on interpreting the activewear and merchandising trends for SS17, the role of sports in contemporary society, and the importance of sports bras.

Meanwhile at Interfiliere, trade show organisers teamed up with the Federation de la Mille & de la Lingerie to create an innovation forum focusing on five popular sports; fitness, running, water sports, cycling and yoga.

Over 250 fabrics and accessories from Interfiliere exhibitors were showcased in the forum and grouped by their technical properties, including comfort, antibacterial, quick-drying, heat-regulation and anti-abrasion.

Sportswear prototypes, created using exhibitors’ fabrics, were also on display alongside sports ranges from various brands exhibiting at Mode City, including Panache and Shock Absorber.
