Moda trade show launches new format for 2016

Birmingham-based trade show Moda is to launch a new format for 2016, including a new layout and the launch of a number of new product zones.

Changes being brought in from February onwards include new locations for each of the five Moda sectors, including a dedicated hall for lingerie and swimwear.

Organisers said the move will see the intimate apparel sector’s national show adopt a more intimate setting for dedicated sector-buying.

“The time is right to introduce a dedicated exhibition space for Moda Lingerie & Swimwear,” said event director Penny Robinson.

“The product will benefit from its own dedicated platform and a new, more intimate setting where those in the sector can meet with other, like-minded business professionals.

“The move into a new hall maintains the convenient adjacencies with Moda Woman and Accessories, while giving lingerie and swimwear collections a suitable environment of their own within which they can showcase their latest designs to their best potential.”

The wider industry has also welcomed the move, praising the relocation as an “evolution” which will “allow the sector to flourish”.

Charnos and Lepel sales and marketing director Peter Cronin said: “Relocating into a hall of our own will give the lingerie and swimwear sector its own space to flourish and will make the show feel more like a standalone event.

“It will definitely be a more intimate setting with increased privacy away from the rest of the industry, but with the same professional and business-orientated attributes we have come to expect from a location such as the NEC.

“We feel very strongly that the lingerie and swimwear sector needs one, national event where we can meet and do business within a professional environment, and Moda Lingerie & Swimwear is really the only vehicle for that.”

This season’s show, which will open at Birmingham’s NEC on February 21, will welcome back returning favourites including Lepel, Charnos, Wacoal, Fantasie, Freya, Panache, Cleo, Naomi & Nicole, Curvy Kate, DKNY and Maidenform.

Triumph will also make a return after a season away from the show.

Moda Lingerie & Swimwear will also coincide with its Intimate Ball, a new event designed to bring the sector’s leading retailers and suppliers together for a evening of food, drink and entertainment in aid of breast cancer awareness charity CoppaFeel!
