Moda Lingerie and Swimwear is presenting a host of niche and up-and-coming labels at its SS17 session, which opened at Birmingham’s NEC today.
New arrivals include Balearic Beach, Wild Geese, Little White Lies Swim, Rebeliss and Splash by Della Roz, which can be found in the Boutique area, in the entrance of the show.
Now in its seventh season, Boutique is a unique destination platform for niche and independent labels in the intimate apparel sector.
Making a return to the area are Bluebella – which enjoyed a successful debut last season – and Kiku Design.
“The Boutique concept has evolved over the past year and is now firmly established within the wider lingerie and swimwear exhibition,” said event director Penny Robinson.
“Visitors enjoy the opportunity to discover inspiring new design alongside their core brands, while the brands themselves can take advantage of a unique opportunity to launch their collections to the trade on an accessible platform within the setting of the industry’s biggest trade exhibition.”
For new start-up Rebeliss, Boutique was the obvious choice to launch a brand new label to the intimate apparel trade.
“I visited the show in February just as we were producing our first sample run, and I was impressed with what I saw,” said designer-founder Michelle Cayley.
“The Boutique area is very attractive to new companies just starting out and, when I got talking to brands who had debuted at the show, their positive feedback confirmed what I thought.”
Rebeliss is launching at this season’s show, unveiling a range of mix-and-match swimwear in sizes 8-18. Made in the UK and featuring unique prints designed in-house, Rebeliss is particularly suitable for larger-cup sizes.
Also making its debut, Balearic Beach is a UK label inspired by life on the French Riviera. Offering a selection of bikinis and beach cover-ups, the range is designed to fit to perfection for stand-out flattering design.
Fellow British label Little White Lies Swim was established in London in 2012 as a wider fashion label. The inspiration of the label is all things British, drawing upon eclectic and vintage influences to create a unique fashion line for directional young women.
The brand has branched out into swimwear this season, and is launching its debut offer at Moda.
Splash by Della Roz completes the swimwear line-up with its sports luxe-inspired collection of bikinis and one-pieces. Block colour, innovative shapes and zips form the key characteristics of the label, making for an urban contemporary choice for the beach and pool.
Lingerie label Bluebella returns to the exhibition with a statement collection of glamorous and directional lingerie.
The fashion-led collection is created with modernity at its core, with an unashamed philosophy that beautiful lingerie should never be left languishing in a drawer for that special occasion.
For loungewear meanwhile, debutante Wild Geese and returning favourite Kiku Design have got every base covered when it comes to cosy evenings and lazy mornings.
Debutante Wild Geese is a London label inspired by the iconic Sound of Music lyrics ‘wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings, these are a few of my favourite things’. Crafted from cotton, jersey, silk and lace, the range is proudly designed and manufactured in Great Britain.
For Kiku Design meanwhile, lounging simply wouldn’t be complete without a glamorous kimono cover-up. Authentic Japanese designs in luxurious cotton and silk are the focus for the brand, which will return to the show with a range of inspiring new designs.
