Renowned swimwear designer Melissa Odabash has announced several plans for the upcoming seasons, including the launch of a sportswear line and three new collaborations.
Speaking at a London press conference ahead of the Mode City trade show, where she will be named designer of the year, Odabash said she will deliver and collection of zip-up swimsuits suitable for watersports for SS15.
The collection, currently being shot in South Africa, contains eight pieces in red, black, navy and white and features mesh details.
“The wetsuit look is very in right now, but wetsuits are not wearable, so I have created sports suits that are actually wearable and look sexy,” Odabash said.
The designer will also deliver a swimwear line for women who have had mastectomies. The collection will launch in October, which marks Breast Cancer Awareness month, and all proceeds will go to charity.
Meanwhile, Odabash is working with Elton John for the Elton John Aids Foundation. She has designed a line of hats for men, women and children and for every hat sold, £20 will go to the Aids Foundation.
But before that, Odabash will showcase her collection of high-end kaftans, dress and swimsuits designed in collaboration with Julien Macdonald at a fashion show in Monaco.
The show will take place in three week’s time, ahead of the F1 Grand Prix.
“This is my 5th collaboration with Julien Macdonald,” said Odabash. “The collection dropped two months ago and has almost sold out.”
