Curvy Kate has announced the top 10 finalists from its global model search, Star in a Bra.
The fuller bust brand, which has never used professional models to promote its collections, selected the finalists after holding live auditions across the UK last month.
After beating 2000 other women to the top spot, the 10 hopefuls will now fight for the public’s vote, with the winner taking away a year-long modelling contract with Bridge Models, a year’s worth of lingerie and a cash prize.
The final heat includes students, an engineer, a nurse, a healthcare assistant and a receptionist.
Finalist Selen who wears a 32J, commented: “I entered Star in a Bra because Curvy Kate are searching for an everyday woman to be the new face and body of their brand. When I was younger I always felt fat and ugly because I wasn’t a size zero, but now I have overcome my body image issues. I have realised that I am beautiful and it is society who is ugly. I want to show the whole world that beauty has no size!”
Star in a Bra adopts an ‘open to all’ policy, championing the use of customer role models and promoting a positive approach to body image.”
Head of PR and Marketing, Hannah Isichei, said: “Star in a Bra is pivotal to Curvy Kate. It’s about celebrating every woman and shows women who wouldn’t traditionally be seen in the media. Our customers don’t all look the same so neither should the girls in our campaigns and that’s why we vowed never to use professional models. We want to use women who our fans can relate to, women with body shapes that resemble our own bodies. It doesn’t just make shopping for bras easier but it also shows us that there isn’t just one type of beautiful.”
The voting stage is now open on the Star in a Bra website and runs for three weeks until August 23.
The winner will be announced on August 25.
