An underwear manufacturer based in the Lake District will showcase its Made-in-Britain collections at this year’s Meet the Manufacturer event.
Unibu, which produces underwear for men and women using fabrics sourced entirely in the UK, will exhibit at a special ‘brands hall’ alongside other inspirational fashion labels.
Kate Hills, founder and CEO of Make it British, the organiser of Meet the Manufacturer, said: “We’ve been inundated with enquiries since our last event from people not only looking for manufacturers to help them make their product in the UK but also from people who would like to buy from brands that are making in Britain. That’s why we’re introducing a new ‘brands hall’ at our next event.”
Founded a little over two years ago, Unibu is the brainchild of Shirley Crisp, an entrepreneur who had sold underwear in Windermere for over a decade.
Then, with a desire to create a quality product, she decided to start manufacturing underwear in the UK.
British-made goods are enjoying a revival, according to Make it British, whose survey shows that UK manufacturers are reporting increases in production of 25-30% compared to 2015.
This trend will be reflected in this year’s Meet the Manufacturer event, the only sourcing event exclusively for British fashion and textiles.
The show will take place on May 24-25 at The Old Truman Brewery, London.
