INVISTA, one of the world’s largest integrated producers of polymers and fibres, and owner of the LYCRA fibre brand, is demonstrating its vision for the future of activewear at Moda Lingerie and Swimwear this week.
As headline sponsor of the Birmingham exhibition, the brand has created a capsule collection of athleisure-inspired bodywear to demonstrate its most innovative technologies and promote itself as a one-stop shop for athleisure solutions.
These include Lycra Beauty Cooling, designed to offer shaping performance with moisture management; Lycra Black technology, designed to ensure that black leggings stay black; and Soft Comfort technology, proving gentle stretch, increased flexibility and comfortable compression.
The technological advances made by LYCRA brand for the sportswear industry are now being adopted in clothing, lingerie and shapewear offering performance benefits while being designed to be seen.
Designers are creating garment solutions to give consumers the luxury of going to the gym, dash from meeting to meeting and join friends for drinks while feeling comfortable and stylish, all in the same pair of leggings, sports bra, shapewear, and vest top.

“For example, the sports bra category is growing and is widely adopted by millennials, now taking a 20% share of the market. We are now seeing brands expanding their product ranges to include matching tops and leggings. The key consideration for these brands and retailers are technical fabrics and ingredient stories to give them credibility in this new category.”
