Luxury lingerie retailer Matchesfashion said to be exploring a sale

Luxury multichannel retailer is exploring a potential sale of the business, it has been reported.

The London-based company, which stocks global lingerie, nightwear and hosiery brands including Asceno, Coco de Mer, Falke, La Perla and Fleur of England, is seeking advisors to manage a sale, according to sources close to the situation have told Business of Fashion.

The news comes five years after raised £32 million in funding from venture capital firms Scottish Equity Partners and Highland Capital Europe.

Advertisement, which was founded as an independent boutique 30 years ago by Tom and Ruth Chapman, reported revenue of £204 million in 2016, up 61% on the previous year.

The Chapmans handed over the reins of the company to CEO Ulrich in 2015, but remain joint chairs.

Matchesfashion operates luxury boutiques in affluent London neighbourhoods including Wimbledon, Richmond, Notting Hill and Marylebone, as well as its successful online business, which was launched in 2006.
