Lingerie marques chosen among UK’s coolest brands

Fifteen intimate apparel brands and retailers have been named in the 2013/14 CoolBrand list, which recognises the buzz created by the hottest household names in Britain.

Apple tops the list for the second year in a row, followed by Aston Martin and Rolex, but lingerie brands such as Freya, Myla and Lejaby are also included, along with retail and apparel brands including Victoria’s Secret and Figleaves.

CoolBrands’ annual list is compiled using an amalgamation of votes from 3000 members of the British public and the views of a panel of 38 ‘key influencers that includes fashion model Daisy Lowe, swimwear designer Melissa Obadash and Dragons’ Den star Kelly Hoppen.

Britain’s more luxurious and fashion-forward intimate apparel brands have made the greatest impact on the list, but more mainstream marques such as Wonderbra and Pretty Polly are also represented.

"Overall the top 20 saw a definite swing back to luxury brands as the affordable everyday brands slipped back. Fashion brands came back to the fore, with sport and music brands becoming more conspicuous,” said Stephen Cheliotis, chairman of the CoolBrands council.

"Whether it’s due to strong heritage, product quality or quite simply a correlation with the reviving British economy, this year’s CoolBrands list shows an increasing number of luxury brands are back at the top of the cool list, reversing last years’ trend of affordable everyday luxuries dominating," he added.

Ann-Marie Manley, Freya’s head of marketing was delighted that her brand made this year’s CoolBrands list. “It’s a great honour that we’ve been recognised by some of the top names in the fashion industry. Before Freya, there really wasn’t a fashionable lingerie brand which catered up to a K cup giving women with a larger cup size a really fun and fashionable look, and Freya continuously provides this season after season.

“Being recognised for our style is fantastic as we constantly look at pushing the boundaries with the design of our collections through our choice of prints, colours and bra styles. Listening to feedback from our fans is incredibly important for us too, our fans are what make us cool,” she added.
