An up-and-coming lingerie designer bagged herself a date on ITV programme Take Me Out last week, despite admitting she only went on the show to promote her business.
Helen Teiman, a Contour Fashion graduate from De Montfort University and founder of Amentium Latex, planned to wear one of her designs from her bold bodywear collection every week on the show.
But after leaving her light on for a Welsh insurance advisor, she was flown to the ‘Isle of Fernando’s’ after just two episodes.
Teiman presented her latex collection, inspired by Venetian architecture, at De Montfort University’s 2016 Contour Fashion Graduate Show in London last June.
Since then, she has created more than 80 pieces of latex lingerie and clothing from her parent’s dining room in Aigburth, Liverpool.
She now hopes to expand her business by opening her own studio and hiring an assistant.
“It’s not been easy, and eight months ago I was going to give up, after I hadn’t had an order in three months,” she told the Liverpool Echo.
“But things have definitely picked up now and I am actually making profit. I want to start to make outfits for men too. And I love working for myself. So I am just going to keep going.”
