Luxury department store Liberty London has appointed Adil Mehboob-Khan as its new CEO.
Mehboob-Khan was previously CEO of premium eyewear brand Luxottica, president of Wella and senior executive at multi-national consumer goods corporation Procter & Gamble.
Commenting on his appointment, Mehboob-Khan said: “Few, if any companies have Liberty London’s rich and storied heritage. With its landmark central London store, unique fabrics business and exclusive Liberty London collection, this national Icon has significant global potential – I am thrilled to join at such an exciting time.”
Marco Capello, chairman of Liberty London and managing partner of BlueGem Capital Partners, added: “We have been searching for an individual of Adil’s calibre for some time and are excited to welcome a person with broad experience across beauty, brand and retail to drive us to the next level.”
The news comes amid a period of growth for Liberty, which posted a 5% increase in full-year sales in November, taking its total up to £74.5m, up from £70.7m, for the year ending January 28, 2017.
The retailer secured a total profit of £10.7m for the period, compared to £4.2m for 2016.
In October, lingerie retailer The Pantry Underwear took on the re-launch of underwear and swimwear exclusively at Liberty London and now has a shop at the department store on Regent Street, Carnaby.
Pantry launched into Liberty with major brands such as Triumph, Panache, Calvin Klein and exclusive lines from Bower swimwear, Born Nouli activewear, The Nude Label and Dora Larsen’s Liberty print-inspired undies.
