Multi-channel lingerie retailer Leia has announced that it witnessed a major rise in swimwear sales in December, compared to the previous year.
Among the best-selling styles were halter-neck bikini tops and strap-free bandeau bikini tops – both of which saw a 38% year-on-year sales boost.
Black proved to be the colour of choice over this period, enjoying a 24% increase in sales compared to December 2012.
The retailer puts the results down to more people choosing to head to sunnier climates over the winter months.
Leia UK sales director commented: “Whilst the market remains competitive, it’s really pleasing to see that during the peak of the winter period, some of our swimwear collections remain on the rise.”
“Classic and simple swimwear styles remain a must-have item, and customers are looking for a sleek and timeless collection they can rely on and wear season after season,” he added.
Leia stocks swimwear from Freya, Fantasie, Huit and Elomi. It prinicipally retails through an online store but has boutiques in York, Cardiff and Kent.
