LCF students to launch crowdfunding campaign to kick-start new lingerie business

Sustainable brand Lara Intimates was launched earlier this year.

Lara Intimates, a new brand headed up by two Fashion Contour students from the London College of Fashion, will launch a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter next month.

Co-founders Cindy Liberman and Faith Leeves hope to raise funds to pay for materials, equipment and a new studio space in East London.

The partners plan to launch their business in September, offering a complete underwear wardrobe that rivals high street styles.

The sustainable business uses industry off-cuts – unused or dyed by large factories in the UK – to make its garments.

Lara Intimates’ crowdfunding campaign will launch on Kickstarter on May 8.

Liberman and Leeves were awarded £5,000 to help accelerate their business last month, after winning the Gold prize at the Student Enterprise Team (SET) Challenge finale.

The School Enterprise Challenge is a global start-up awards programme for schools, with up to $50,000 (£40,100) in prizes available for the most entrepreneurial schools, teachers and students.
