La Perla showcased a new sixties-themed SS12 collection in Central London, this week.
The range takes its inspiration from vintage fashion, as worn by the likes of Breakfast at Tiffany’s Holly Golightly and Jackie O.
To express the carefree attitude of the decade, the brand has used lightweight fabrics, lace and chiffon, enlivened by bright pastels like mimosa yellow and sky blue.
The idea of flower power is conveyed through patterns of roses and daisies, while clean lines seek to recall the signature style of Jackie O. Embroidered tulle roses are embellished with two-tone striped Lycra and stylized leaves are emphasised in Leavers lace, with co-ordinated options for night.
Soutache, a staple technique of La Perla’s designs becomes ‘mild and effervescent’ for enhanced femininity of the sort epitomised by Breakfast at Tiffany’s Holly Golightly. The jagged lace is combined with tulle for a two-tone effect.
A new interpretation of the soutache braid is designed with patterns of tulle to create a plumetis effect, used on both lingerie and nightwear.
